I am an economist with over a decade of professional and academic experience as a specialist and researcher for organizations such as the U.S. State Department, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Bank of England, and various universities and government institutions in Colombia, the U.S., the U.K. and Europe.
I have specialized in economic development, industrial policy, and innovation. I hold a BA and MA in Economics from Los Andes University, Colombia, and an MSc in International Financial Analysis from the University of Jönköping, Sweden. I also hold a Master's in Research in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a Ph.D. in Economics, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from Imperial College London.
My Ph.D. supervisors were Jonathan Haskel and Ralf Martin. My general research areas are high-growth entrepreneurship, intangible investment (i.e., artificial intelligence), innovation, and productivity.
I applied varied econometric and text analysis techniques on accounting and unstructured data to obtain alternative measures of innovation, intangible assets, and market power at the firm level.
