Social media to measure innovation
I will be introducing a co-authored piece with Ralf Martin and Eugenie Duguoa for the 2023 version of the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) conference.
The EPIP Association is an international, independent, interdisciplinary, non-profit association of researchers with roots in a network financed by the European Commission in 2003-2005.

Economic resilience and industrial clusters
Check my latest collaboration for comments and suggestions on the publications of the Inter-American Development Bank on industrial clusters and economic resilience.
The pandemic tested businesses’ abilities to survive and recover; these papers study cases in Colombia and Argentina, demonstrating that under certain circumstances belonging to an industrial cluster might result in effectively resisting better adversity and recuperating faster.

Innovation Conference for Latin America (RIE)
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Economy Network of Latin America and the Caribbean (RIE) aims to promote the study, dissemination, and training on innovation and entrepreneurship issues in the region.
I joined economists Philippe Aghion and Reinhilde Veugelers, and presented at the 6th iteration of the regional conference.
I presented joint work with Ralf Martin (Imperial College London), and Eugenie Dugoua (LSE), on Twitnovation, a measure we created to estimate innovation and intangible investments from social media posts by and about companies.
This project started with applications for the UK and the US, with the collaboration of Charlotte Guillard (UK Intellectual Property Office), and now we are applying our novel measure to Latin American countries in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank.

Understanding intellectual property protection in the creative economy
Check my latest collaboration for the publications of the Inter-American Development Bank on intellectual property rights and the creative economy for Latin countries.
There is still a lack of data to inform artists and creators about how their intellectual property rights can and should be protected. Because of this, we saw the need to issue a comprehensive guide to help them walk the murky waters of the legal protection of their creations, and enhance the chances of being adequately compensated for it.
If creators can protect their work, this can be reflected at the macro level, with more competitive nations that improve their chances of foreign investment and more growth.

I am here representing India at the Fair Food Trade and Sustainable Food Systems Committee. We are in the midst of negotiations for the World Trade Organization simulations.
We avidly discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence and other smart, digital, and precision technologies to improve the accuracy of fair trade voluntary labeling, the tracking of sustainable food supply chains, and small farmers’ competitiveness in international markets.
We also discussed contentious issues like including child labor as part of article XX(e) of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) which would imply making countries liable for the fraction of child labor they employ in production under international trade ruling.
